The clutch hoist is a familiar machine on Indian building sites. Fixed on a stand at the slab edge, it raises bricks, cement bags, sand, aggregate, shuttering and steel from the ground to the floor being built, so labourers do not have to carry every load up ladders and stairs.
Ours is rated 1 ton, with 8 mm rope and 40 m of lift, enough for a building of several storeys. It is a heavy duty hoist with a 3 HP three phase motor, made for industrial lifting and pulling as well as site work. You can buy it on its own or as a set with our medium stand, so the hoist and its mounting come together and match.

On site, fix the stand firmly, barricade the area below and never let anyone stand or walk under a raised load. Give the person receiving material on each floor a guard rail to work behind. Check the rope for broken wires, kinks and wear at the start of every day, and replace it when it shows damage.

- Measure the height to your top floor and confirm 40 m of rope covers it with spare.
- Take it with the medium stand if you do not already have a mounting.
- Keep each load within 1 ton, and make sure the site has a three phase supply for the 3 HP motor.
- Plan a safe receiving point with a guard rail on each floor.
